I am a deeply experienced editor, proofreader, and a native English speaker with a B.A. in English. Those I have trained as language QA specialists have called me a “militant stickler” for proper wording, grammar, punctuation, and concise written communication.
I owned and managed a national medical transcription company for 30+ years; I reviewed, proofed, edited, and formatted on an almost-daily basis.

I couldn't be more pleased with the masterful work Sarah did on this project – a complex memoir with multiple characters and circuitous story line. An absolute guru! We hired Sarah based on her stellar reviews. She was easy to talk to and always available from the beginning. She explained her process as it was going on and I was impressed by her apparent depth of knowledge as it pertains to editing. When she turned in the work, we gave the book to our formatter (also an editor) and our formatter commented on how well it was edited. (first time she ever made this comment and I've written 27 books). As Sarah mentioned, the only point of contention was that she turned in no developmental edits (comments/suggestions) when this was part of the contract and part of what we paid her for. Sarah was very complimentary about my book as far as the 'story,' saying that no developmental edits were necessary. Although, it made me a little uncomfortable (this has never happened before, zero comments). The truth is Sarah may be right. If an editor were to make suggestions just for the sake of making them, it could be bad for the book, rather than leaving it alone. I believe she did go through the book carefully; I believe her. Could she have found something to comment about that would add to the story... sure, it's possible. But I have written 27 novels, so I have a good idea of what plot-holes to avoid at this point. The truth is it is impossible to know, either way. So, I wanted to give Sarah credit; I do believe she is an excellent editor. And I do - wholeheartedly - recommend Sarah as an editor. I believe she is precise, honest, diligent, and an excellent communicator.
